'A City of Sadness'
I went to see Hou Hsiao-hsien's film 'A City of Sadness' to Shibuya. This Taiwan movie is set in Keelung and Jioufen, both are small cities in Taiwan. I've visited Taiwan three times but never been there. I'm anxious to visit next time.
The movie was so complex that I was liable to lost trail. In the begining, I was comfused with revolving time-line and the style of narrator. Hou used three ways to tell the story -- by third person omniscient, by a character's dialy, and by a deaf character's writings. This would make a contribution to create strong intensity yet the whole scene as movie pictures are tremendously beautiful. So is its music.
