I feel so curious about a language that I compulsively begin studying
a trivial thing, such as a grammar of Japanese that is my native
language. However, the more I study (rather than learn) a language,
the less I use it effectively. I might be wasting a time.

I believe learning a language is sometimes difficult until hearing or reading what you have learnt long ago.
I think so too. And besides learning languages, reexamining what we have taken it for granted is informative.
