Discouraged

I'm recently discouraged a bit. No matter what I do, it turns out for the worse. Everything is messy in such a mood. I need to bestir myself for writing this journal. Once I open the editor and begin typing, I could write off words like this. All I have to do is leaving laziness and wade into pursuit.

I wish I had a talent in making efforts for anything.

Hannah Montana reminds me of Heart

I bought a Hannah Montana soundtruck. The series is not shown on Japanese TV yet. But the song she sings in the show is sometimes broadcasted on the radio.
Her song is so energetic that I remember the sound of Heart. That's how much Hanna's songs are highly respectable rock for me.

Traditinal mall

Traditional shopping malls are deminishing each year in Tokyo. However, there're a lot of active malls around the downtown. Arakawa-ku also has several of such malls. It's fun to explore a traditional mall.

An egret on the water

At the early morning we went to Akasaka where the Guest House located. These area has a lot of nature. I saw a beautiful egret standing on the moat around the Imperial Palace.

Baumkuchen

One of a co-worker leaves for childbirth from next week. We presented several sweet cakes to her. I chose a Baumkuchen. I used this opportunity to get for myself. Anyway, I wish her return to work without any problem.

I had a hard meeting today. We should abstain discussing at such a formal meeting. We'd rather argue within brainstormings on ahead.

Today is the Payday. I got wages badly this month, as I've been avoiding working overtime. Ironically, cutting back overtime working increases time for consumption. What a thorny situation...

My Generation

A song named "My Generation" reminds me Limp Bizkit rather than The Who. It's due to my generation. Though I thought for a split second that the Limp's "My Generation" could have something related to The Who, it's just all my imagination.

A test post with the atom-blogger.el

I just neglected to have kept a journal yesterday. It's a problem that posting to the blogger needs a web brouser, so I sat up atom-blogger.el. This is a test post.

Sunday Pottering

I strolled around Shinobazu-no-ike pond on bicycle.

There're several types of birds. The most numerous bird is the ducks.

R0010546

A gull seems to have come flying from the sea. Or, is he lives in the pond?

He flied away.

R0010544

Then I rode to the Imperial Palace. The government allows the road around the Palace for the bicycle exclusively on Sunday.

Screen Cleaning

I've felt compelled to clean screen doors to the balcony which have been stained for several weeks. Finally, I cleaned them today. It was hard job. I attributed the stain to the rust of steel sash door sorked out when the last typhoon have grazed. The rust was engrained among screen mesh. alas...

A little under the wealth

It's Fryday. I can't tell you how long I've waited for it.

I don't want to work in a same old-fashioned way for a while. I know that this feeling comes from exhaustion of the last project.

We often become `a little under the wealth'. Usually, a short rest alleviates such symptoms. The same goes for the mind. A short rest may alleviate mental distress too.

I need an E-mail Client

I often argue with my collegues about e-mail client applications. I've used the Thuderbird for several years. But I don't recommend it for anyone whom I have no will to support. It's still been troublesome for people who takes the e-mail system for granted.
There're so many alternatives but the best one. I wonder which e-mail client dose smart people use?

The mere features I need for the e-mail client are all related with treatment of received e-mails. That is, clever spam filter, incremental search within e-mail headers, and to categolize e-mails based on keywords or search results. I don't stress the feature for writing e-mails after all.

Autumn Cherry

Last Saturday, I found cherry blossoms come out. Of course, cherry blossoms normally come out in Spring. Autumn cherry is out of common. Indeed, if you write 'autumn cherry(秋桜)' in kanji character, it means 'cosmea' in japanese.

I had a cold. I've suffered pain in throat from the day before yesterday, I'm down today as suspected. I've been slept literally all the day.

Ramen at Tsukiji

We went cycling to Tsukiji where is the center bazaar of Tokyo. There's a lot of food stands for vendors working in the market. Many of those are open to visitors too. We ate ramen for breakfast at one of the most famous booth. Ramen is a kind of soup noodle which is popular in Japan.

'Concrete Mathematics'

I bought a book once too often. Today I received an Amazon box including 'Concrete Mathematics' by D. Knuth, despite still not finishing 'SICP', 'Mathematics, Form and Function' and all that. I wonder when I can reade it. However, I believe that there are some books that have value by just keeping around. Of cource, I'm positive that I shall get on reading 'Concrete Mathematics' with great pleasure soon.

Atitude of Job

Today I realized that I've oversighted author's corrections during a last week. I'm disgusted with my poor professional ability. Indeed, I'm not good at the galley proofing in an old-style way. I mean, I dislike checking DTPed compositions on paper. But it's just an excuse. I should reflect on the atitude of job, seeking improved way to work.

Museum and Correspondent

My old friend came to my home this afternoon. We went to the National Science Museum in Ueno. I've often visited the museum during my junior high school years. These days, the museum has exhited its collections with simple and bare-bone style. Its groomy display rooms have created an aura of the very museum. The best of all was a room of minerals where several rocks has displayed offhandedly in a lot of glass cases. But now it's not like that anymore. There are a few rocks displayed snobbishly. I'm disappointed.

Then we had dinner at our favorite Korean restaurant. North Korea conducted a nuclear test today as it happens. A correspondent came in the restaurant and was interviewing customers in the news and the Korean dinner. Does any relation between the test of nuclear weapon and the Korean? Ridiculous.

Sky Blue

It's the sunny weekend I've had in a while. It would be a waste not to potter by bicycle, though the wind is slightly strong.
I went bay area today. There are many cranes because those reclaimed area is currently under redevelopment. Of course, there still remains some remnants of the former industrial society. This defunct rail which have used for cement carrer is by far the most impressive.

'A City of Sadness'

I went to see Hou Hsiao-hsien's film 'A City of Sadness' to Shibuya. This Taiwan movie is set in Keelung and Jioufen, both are small cities in Taiwan. I've visited Taiwan three times but never been there. I'm anxious to visit next time.

The movie was so complex that I was liable to lost trail. In the begining, I was comfused with revolving time-line and the style of narrator. Hou used three ways to tell the story -- by third person omniscient, by a character's dialy, and by a deaf character's writings. This would make a contribution to create strong intensity yet the whole scene as movie pictures are tremendously beautiful. So is its music.

Umbrella under the Storm

The typhoon is coming closer to Japan. Though it seems not to hit Tokyo, it's rainstorm outside. On the street, there're many wreckage of umbrellas which have been broken by strong winds blowing through high-rise building. It's better to get wet in the rain than to struggle against the heavy storm with opening umbrella.

Anyway, a daialy often liables to the subject of weather...

Chess on NDS

My recent trivial enjoyment is playing chess on Nintendo DS. There's no specific chess title for NDS in Japan (I don't know foreign affairs). So I play chess on a title which is an assortment of some kinds of table games like cards, shogi, and go. Currently, I'm very ignorant about the chess theory. I'll gradually learn how to play well.

Broken Fan

I wasted this morning repairing a Debian server. She provide a build environment for PDF data of printing books, which are our department's products. Now we cannot edit qualified books within a short time without her. She has slightly got old and been troublesome these days. She screamed with a broken fan this time. Fortunately, it was at the Northbridge that the fan was broken, so there was no tangible damage.

Strange as it may sound, the broken fan had no particular tangible injury. Running with hardly any days off yields fatigue inside the surface. The same can be said for mankind.

New Bread Mold

I took a paid holiday today. Unluckily, it was rain since morning. If not, I would go for a long cycling with my wife -- she's also a day off.

Instead, we go to Kappabashi where is known as the kitchen instruments town. You can buy famous plastic foods samples at there. (Incidentally, Kappabashi is close to Asakusa.)
My wife bought a new mold for a loaf of bread. It's so cheap but simple and sturdy. She has already kneaded the dough and been going to use the new mold from now.

One of a symbolizing view of Tokyo

It's rain today. However, It has been no rain till noon, so I went cycling through morning. I rode around Akihabara today because I got little bit bored with just riding accross the Arakawa Riv.

Akihabara viewed from the Hijiribashi Bridge
The above photo shows Akihabara viewed from around the Ochanomizu station accross the Kanda Riv. More recently, I'm aware of some powerboats passing over through this river, though I often hang around Akihabara and its neighbour town Ochanomizu. Is this an effect of reducing government regulations?

By the way, there's many people who have taken a same scene as I took today.
