Lack of Concentration

My concentration level was so low that I was almost ordering Provigil. Of course, I didn't.

What determines one's busyness?

I couldn't come back home on the same day I've left.

The amount of the spare time doesn't determine the busyness. It's the time under someone's control that determines the busyness in inverse proportion.

Temptation

I can hardly resist the temptation of buying doughnuts these days.

1/27/2008

I spend every weekend at my spouse's parents' home with her and the baby. My work there is to change his diapers. But the events occur every two or three hours, so I devote most of time reading books, taking photos, or just sleeping.

It's moderate but somehow boring but still so peaceful time. That restful era isn't long, I presume.

Lovely gifts

My friends gave our baby wooden toys made in Swiziland as his newborn gift. Thank you very much. He will like it, though it might become my toys rather than him ;) Anyway, thank you again.

And more, they chose a wooden teether as an additional present for him. It's too lovely for any words. I'll bring it to him this weekend and take the baby's photo with it.

To know the time pattern

Today my spouse and baby left the hospital where they've lived for the last five days. It was the first moment the baby experienced the outer world out of the closed secure environment. Unfortunately it was a chill snow day.

The baby seemed to be confused when he arrived his grand-parents' home, in which they will spend the next month. He made me change his diaper a dozens of times. I became aware that the most inportant thing we should care on changing diapers is to know the time pattern.

Baby bottle

I ordered baby bottles. A baby cost this much despite stock prices collapsing.

Trans fat and doughnuts

My favorite doughnuts shop has redused trans fat. It's still not enough but a commendable activity. I heard that Krispy Kream has eliminated all of trans fat from their products in US. However, in Japan, even Krispy Kream seems not to care about trans fat at all. Food companies can sell trans-fat-rich-products with impunity in this country. I wish the MHLW, who hasn't cared about trans fat for now, obliges it.

Crying rather Sleeping (for now)

We received a lot of congratulatory e-mails from friends. Thank you for all the words.

I visited the hospital to see my spouse and our baby, who was entirely drowsy. I know infants keep sleeping at the first day of their birth, though they are awakened for two or three hours immediately after birth. But his deep sleep still made me uncertain about his life.

According to her e-mail I just received, he screamed for breastmilk every hour after I left the hospital.

Gas Leak

When I got back to the home, three men were working around the apartment building. I soon recognized a company emblem of the gas firm on their uniform. I thought there were a gas failure in some resident's room. It's nothing unusual.

However, I could smell gas. And they had broken the concrete ground next to the entrance open. If only one room has had a problem, they wouldn't ruin the shared space.

They said gas leak was from a trunk line supplying gas to this whole building. Thus, my house also has been under danger of gas explotion this afternoon.

Now the crack on the pipeline is fixed and I can use the gas stove -- I must have cold without heat tonight. Living in the city is like walking on a knife-edge, I become keenly aware of that occasionally.

I had a toilet tank problem this morning and was almost being late. According to this illust, the lift wire was unlinked from the trip wire accidentally. More than that, there was something wrong around me today.
But now after dinner with a friend, all the bad feelings has gone away.

Elimination communication

I just read an entry of Wikipedia explaining 'Elimination communication'. EC is not familiar in japan, so I didn't hear about it until I happened to get this entry. hmmm... I think this method as quite natural, though I consider it in a different manner. It certainly enhances baby's communication ability -- EC itself insists so. But I interested in EC because, in the first place, I think it is literally the natural way of baby learning where and how to toilet. I know pet kittens shortly after birth learn to go to their toilet by the same methods. That is, we get the signals and have them taken to the toilet and make some cues when they are in their toilet. And, of course, we don't put them something diaper. I don't notice any difference between both, at least on a potty training.

It's not true that an expecting father has a lot of time, especially during his weekend. Physical time without mental relief makes no sense in one's life.

Preference during prenatal life

My spouse said her preference of taste has shifted since her pregnancy. She now loves something salty rather than sweet, in contrast with her previous favor. Generaly, it's said that a women becomes loving salty if she carry a boy and the other way around. This superstion appears to be true for now as far as I can inquire.

My friend is having a interesting experience, though I should not write that, though I am impatient to. Anyway I wish her success.

1/07/2008

Today I had a first chance of eating Krispy Kream doughnuts. (A colleague bought us them as a present!) I should regret eating five peaces of them.

And, though, I happily ate a lot of that, I prefer andonand, which is another chain of doughnuts stores in japan, to Krispy Kream...

I have to sleep and get up, and even worse, live alone for two months from today.

Nodame Special

I watched a TV program first time for the last year.

A cat dies

I got a call from my mother saying that our cat have died early this morning in her house. The cat had lived with us for around 17 years. An incurable disorder had been knocked her out the last few weeks. The only consolation I think is that she died in her family.

Ten-Ten

We went to see the movie titled "Ten-Ten" to Shinjuku. It will become the last time we went to the theater together, because we'll have a baby this month.

1/01/2008

We visited both of our parents to say 'Happy New Year.' On the way to my mother's home town, I left my muffler in the train and went to the terminal station to pick it up. It was somewhat fussing new-year's day.
